The installation of Eco2Air® Tower, the large tower designed and built by the Fervo Group to purify the air of CO2 and particulate matter, was inaugurated yesterday, 12 September 2022, in Brescia. Exhibited throughout September in the city centre, it will also be present - thanks to virtual reality - at Futura Expo on 2-4 October.
Eco2Air® Tower, the Fervo Group's air purification tower, will be on display for the entire month of September and until 9 October in Brescia, at the intersection of Corso Palestro, Via X Giornate and Corso Zanardelli. It will also be among the protagonists of Futura EXPO, an event scheduled to be held from 2-4 October 2022 at the Brixia Forum, the city of Brescia's exhibition space.
Futura Expo - guided by the motto “Working together to achieve ecological transition” - is a venue for worlds that are different from each other, but which share the single objective of meeting, exchanging information and discussing issues. It is an opportunity to make known and underscore the commitment of the various production facilities, thus launching projects that are able to give a green turn to their activities.
To this end, the “Pact for Brescia 2050” project will be launched on that occasion, that will engage entrepreneurs in Brescia in a commitment to ensuring a low-carbon footprint society, a green and circular economy, and resilient ecosystems that contribute to the well-being of citizens.
The pact places the business world at the centre of the ecological transition. It stems from the need to support an image of business that is ever closer to citizens' concerns, under the banner of economic, environmental and social sustainability envisaged by the UN 2030 goals.
Air purification with the Eco2Air® Tower
To help companies and cities that want to be virtuous, the Fervo Group, specialising in Facility and Energy Management, has designed and built Eco2Air® Tower. This air purification tower, in collaboration with ProBrixia and the Municipality of Brescia, will be installed for the entire month of September and until 9 October in Corso Zanardelli, Brescia.
Standing 7 m high, with a unique filter made of biological and biodegradable material (including coffee grounds), it is able to generate significant benefits in terms of air quality, reducing pollutants (PM10 and PM2.5) by over 95%, and retaining captured C02.
The Eco2Air® Tower's treatment not only purifies the air, but also ionises it, i.e., revitalises it, creating a microclimate involving all environmental parameters, such as temperature, relative humidity and speed.
Conceived for outdoor and indoor environments, in Brescia the Tower features Architect Golfari's new geometric design inspired by Japanese style, and a structure in technical textile material made by Maco Technology.
As evening falls, Eco2Air® Tower comes “to life” with a play of lights and projections synchronised with a sound reproducing the “breath” of the world.
Eco2Air® Tower can treat approximately 15 thousand m3 of air per hour, totalling 130 million m3 in a year. It has 10-15-fold the filtering power of a magnolia or pine tree, and can absorb more than 500 kg of CO2 per year from the atmosphere.
The CO2 and particulates retained can be reused for various purposes including the production of tennis racquets or graphite pencils.
It does all the above under the constant attention of the Fervo Group's Innovation Lab, which, through a remote control system, ensures the best management of variables and maximum performance in terms of generating an ideal microclimate.
The Eco2Air® Tower at Futura Expo
The Eco2Air® Tower will be physically present in the city of Brescia, and digitally at Futura Expo 2022 for an immersive experience, thanks to a projection of over 3 m and a unique 360° virtual reality perspective.
Visitors to the Fervo stand will have a first hand experience of the application of the tower in virtually reconstructed environments of the city of Brescia, discovering new solutions capable of creating a new feeling of urban well-being.
In particular, by wearing a wireless virtual reality visor, they can understand how breathing better quality air and ensuring “smarter” management of living environments would make it possible to have a decisive impact on both the environment and our health.
It is a precious opportunity to experience a short virtual journey between different fields that appear to be far apart, but which are brought together here for a single purpose: precisely, advanced technology, the circular economy, and “Made in Italy”.
It is no mere chance that the Eco2Air® Tower 2021, designed by Eco2zone and Pininfarina Architecture, won the Chicago Athenaeum's Green Good Design 2022 award for “good design” that has a positive impact on the human environment.
